Glass Sandwich Plate


The plates were designed to provide an excellent optical properties for detecting small colorless protein crystals growing in an LCP matrix (Cherezov & Caffrey, 2003). The original 96-well sandwich plate consists of a 1 mm thick base glass slide with the footprint of an SBS-compliant plate, a 140 μm thick double sticky spacer with 96 punched out holes and a 0.2 mm thick glass coverslip (Cherezov et al., 2004). The Glass sandwich plates are available from Paul Marienfeld GmbH (cat # 0890003) or Hampton Research (cat # HR3-151). Similar plates called Laminex can be purchased from Molecular Dimensions (cat # MD11-55 for a starter pack). And another version from Swissci can be purchased from Hampton Research (cat # HR3-186) or from Molecular Dimensions (cat # MD11-005U-20).
